湖南一个偏远山村里，一所小小的乡村小学服务着大量父母外出打工的留守儿童。影片用数年时间跟踪三个家庭，记录学校在贫困、师资不足和教育资源有限中勉强维持，也记录老人和兄姐如何照顾长期缺少父母陪伴的孩子。

In a remote mountain village in Hunan, a tiny primary school serves children whose parents have left to work in the cities. Over several years, the film follows three families as the school struggles with poverty, too few teachers and limited educational resources, while grandparents and older siblings try to care for children growing up with long parental absences.
