影片从上海出发，沿长江逆流而上，一直向江源地区推进，以非叙事方式构成长江及沿岸人群的肖像。相对独立的画面、现场声音和旅途中事件的简短文字共同组成缓慢流动的景观，呈现工业、迁移、贫困、商业和日常生存。
Starting at Shanghai and travelling upstream toward the Yangtze’s source, the film constructs a non-narrative portrait of the river and the people living along it. Independent images, ambient sound and brief textual references to incidents encountered on the journey create a slow-moving landscape of industry, migration, poverty, commerce and everyday survival.
