China’s Central Academy of Drama stages the American musical Fame as the graduation production for its senior class. Over eight months, five students compete for parts, negotiate teachers’ authority and family expectations, and prepare to enter a highly competitive entertainment industry, forcing them to define what success and ‘fame’ actually mean.
