影片聚焦曾被打成右派的张先痴。他在四川劳改营中度过多年，后来写下关于这段经历的自传。胡杰通过他的讲述与历史材料，重建政治定性、强迫劳动与求生的机制，保存一个被反右运动深刻改变的人生记忆。
The film focuses on Zhang Xianchi, a former Rightist who spent many years in Sichuan labour camps and later wrote an autobiography about the experience. Through his testimony and historical materials, Hu Jie reconstructs the mechanisms of political labelling, forced labour and survival, preserving the memory of a life shaped by the Anti-Rightist Campaign.
