1959年，沈阳高校中被划为右派的知识分子以及监狱中的犯人被送到辽西，为矿山修建铁路。影片以辽宁大学讲师尹绍尧的命运为中心，通过个人档案和证词重建政治定性、劳改、饥饿和互相揭发如何摧毁人的身体与关系，也记录抵抗者如何被进一步镇压。
In 1959, intellectuals labelled Rightists in Shenyang universities and prisoners were sent to western Liaoning to build a railway for a mine. Focusing on lecturer Yin Shaoyao, Hu Jie reconstructs how political files, forced labour, hunger and mutual denunciation destroyed bodies and relationships, and how resistance was suppressed in an environment designed to remake both thought and behaviour.
