The film records attempts at dialogue among Tibetans, Uyghurs and Han Chinese inside and outside China. It begins with an online conversation in 2011 between the Dalai Lama and Chinese lawyers and scholars and ends with the 2014 arrest of Uyghur scholar Ilham Tohti, who had advocated interethnic dialogue. Across these events, the documentary asks what meaningful conversation can achieve under political pressure and censorship.
