After the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake devastated the filmmaker’s hometown, Gu Tao returns to a landscape marked by loss. Combining documentary images, experimental abstraction and fictional elements, the film reflects on disaster, survival and the spiritual homelessness experienced by people whose familiar world has been destroyed.
