Synopsis
Inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy, Zhao Liang travels through the coal and iron industries of Inner Mongolia, filming blasted mountains, mines, smelters, sick workers and empty new cities. The vast industrial landscape becomes a vision of ecological and human devastation produced by the pursuit of growth and material wealth.
