在中国北方一座阴沉城市的一天里，四个被暴力、欺凌、愧疚与绝望困住的人，因为一个传说中的满洲里大象而隐约联系在一起——据说那头大象整天坐着一动不动。每个人都在考虑逃离，彼此独立的人生最终逐渐汇向“离开这里”的可能。
Over the course of a single day in a bleak northern Chinese city, four people whose lives are marked by violence, bullying, guilt and despair become loosely connected by the story of an elephant in Manzhouli that is said to sit still all day. Each considers escape, and their separate paths gradually converge toward the possibility of leaving.
