上世纪八十年代，川剧丑角邱福去世后被鬼差带往阴间，途中开始回忆自己的一生。他的舞台经历贯穿战争、饥荒与政治动荡，所在戏班也随着政权和时代不断改变。一次通往死亡的旅程由此融合川剧、民间艺术、历史记忆、悲剧与荒诞。
After dying in the 1980s, Sichuan-opera clown Qiu Fu is escorted toward the underworld and recalls his life on stage. His memories carry the audience through war, famine and political upheaval as his theatre troupe repeatedly adapts to changing regimes. The journey to death becomes an elaborate mixture of opera, folk art, historical memory, tragedy and farce.
