王兵在中国西南一所精神病院里长期拍摄一层楼上的病人。男人们在走廊里徘徊、睡觉、争吵、开玩笑、建立亲密关系，同时又被机构日常和有限的对外联系牢牢限制。影片没有解释性旁白，而是通过持续观察追问禁闭空间中的疯狂、自由与人的尊严。
Inside a mental institution in southwest China, Wang Bing spends months observing patients confined to a single floor. Men wander corridors, sleep, argue, joke, form attachments and struggle with institutional routines while contact with the outside world remains limited. Without explanatory narration, the film asks what madness, freedom and human dignity mean within a space of confinement.
