小县城里四个潦倒的中年朋友想出一个发财计划：让丧妻的老齐再娶一个年轻女人，为“新娘”购买高额保险，再制造“意外”骗取赔偿。王春苔进入老齐生活后，原本的贪欲逐渐被真实感情、恐惧和道德犹豫打乱。就在几个人决定放弃阴谋时，命运却真的带来了他们曾经计划制造的死亡。
Four middle-aged friends in a small county town devise a get-rich-quick scheme: widower Lao Qi will marry a young woman, buy life insurance on her and then arrange an ‘accident’ so the group can collect the payout. After they find Wang Chuntai and bring her into Lao Qi’s life, greed gives way to attachment, fear and moral hesitation. Just as they abandon the plan, fate produces the death they had once intended to cause.
