Through interviews with activists, scholars, filmmakers and members of China’s LGBTQ communities, the documentary traces the development of queer culture and public discourse in modern China. It examines changes in law, medicine, media, education and activism, from homosexuality’s earlier treatment as taboo or illness to the emergence of organized advocacy and demands for legal recognition.
