Synopsis
The film follows Xiao Zhao from age nineteen, when he marches through Pingyao waving the national flag and shouting patriotic slogans, through university life and volunteer teaching in Liangshan. Over four years, family hardship, demolition and encounters with corruption gradually complicate his once absolute faith in nationalism and political authority.
