影片采访数十名与“杀马特”亚文化有关的年轻人，追溯这种以夸张发型、服装和网络社群为标志的工人青年文化如何兴起又衰退。视觉上的张扬背后，是工厂劳动、迁徙、孤独、歧视，以及年轻人建立自身身份和归属感的强烈愿望。
Through interviews with dozens of young people associated with the ‘Smart’ or shamate subculture, the film traces the rise and decline of a working-class youth style marked by spectacular hair, fashion and online community. Behind the visual excess are factory labour, migration, loneliness, discrimination and the desire to create an identity and belonging of one’s own.
